GM Raises Price 1.5% On Average
Posted Dec 20, 2007 @ 6:00 pm
Due to increasing costs of raw materials, the General has decided to raise prices on nearly every vehicle. The price increases average out to 1.5%. Some vehicles, such as the Chevy Malibu LS, will see no increase in price. On the other hand, Cadillac XLR will jump a whopping $1,500. Don't even try running out to your favorite dealer to snag a car before the price goes up. These price increases are effective immediately.
Press release after the jump...

GMC Terrain Coming In MY 2009
Posted Dec 20, 2007 @ 11:57 am
The GMC lineup will be one vehicle larger come the 2009 model year. GMC is slated to receive its second CUV, the Terrain. The 2009 GMC Terrain is not to be confused with the GMC Terrain that is about to go on sale in the Middle East. The Terrain in the Middle East is a rebadged Saturn Vue / Opel Antara. The Terrain bound for North America will be built off the an updated version of the Theta platform, which will also underpin the next gen Chevy Equinox.
GM has been much critized for its lazy "badge engineering", but the Equinox and the Terrain should look significantly different, as each will receive unique sheet metal.
The GMC Terrain will in a sense replace the Pontiac Torrent. As the General attempts to realign its brands, Pontiac will lose its only truck (if you care to call a CUV a truck) and refocus its attention on performance cars.

Pontiac to Get G8 Ute?
Posted Sep 07, 2007 @ 1:27 pm

We've been hearing rumors for a few years now that the General is planning the return of the El Camino to the US market. With gas prices on the rise, a vehicle with a pick up bed that gets the gas milage of car could be compelling product. Currently, Holden sells the El Camino-like Commodore Ute.
Recently, it was reported the Bob Lutz said in an email that if the Commodore Ute comes to the US, it won't be a Chevy. If it's not a Chevy, the next logical choice would be a Pontiac. Afterall, Pontiac is already getting the Ute's platform partner, the Commodore SV6 as the G8. So could we see a G8 Ute in the US? Only time will tell... For now, we'll have to be satisfied by rendered speculations like the one above.

Buick Ties with Lexus for #1 in JD Power Vehicle Dependability
Posted Aug 09, 2007 @ 10:22 pm
Today JD Power released their Vehicle Dependability rankings and Buick and Lexus came out on top. The Vehicle Dependability rankings are based on the number of problems consumers have had with their cars since buying them 3 years ago. So this year's rankings reflect how reliable 2004 model year vehicles were built.
Buick jumped from 3rd last year to a tie for first with Lexus at 145 problems per 100 vehicles. Rounding out the top five are Cadillac (162), Mercury (168), and Honda (169). Domestic fans will be pleased to notice that 3 out of the top 5 brands were American.
Maybe it's about time the public started giving GM its due for making more reliable cars!
